After the passing of a loved one, comes the task of deciding what to do with all the clothing left behind. These articles have a great deal of sentimental value and hold treasured memories of good times together.

Deciding what to do with this clothing can be heart wrenching.

The idea of creating a memory quilt came to me after I suffered the loss of a loved one and needed a way to preserve the memories of our time together. This became an outlet for me to express my grief as well as provide the much needed healing. These quilts offer comfort when we need that special connection with someone who isn't with us anymore.

Children's Clothing Quilts

Keep your child’s younger years close to your heart. These quilts are made from children’s clothing that parents have saved over the years and may include old school uniforms, sports jerseys, t-shirts from extra-curricular activities, etc. Other fabrics may be added that match your school’s colors. You may also create a photo collage quilt with your child’s yearly school pictures.

These quilts make great graduation gifts for your child or other family members to remember school years with, whether it be from grade school, college, or anything in between. What a beautiful way to honor your graduate with a little piece of home to carry with them wherever life takes them.

Depending on the size and pattern chosen, about 4-20 articles of clothing are needed. These can be shirts, pants, ties, robes, suits, dresses, sweatshirts, t-shirts, uniforms, pajamas, etc. and should be in a wide variety of colors, both patterns and solids. Washable items are the most versatile.

All garments should be freshly laundered and free from stains and tears as these will show in your quilt. If an article simply must be used, I will do my best to hide any flaws.
